Learn More about All-on-4®

Thanks to advances in dentistry, patients today who are missing several or all of their teeth no longer have to rely on insecure or ill-fitting dentures to restore their smiles. The introduction of dental implants has allowed patients to enjoy crowns, bridges, and dentures with incredible strength and stability. These small metal posts are surgically placed in the jaw to act as artificial tooth roots. If you are seeking to enjoy the unique benefits of an implant-supported denture, Dr. Andrew R. Glenn can secure your restoration with only four dental implants using the innovative All-on-4® technique at our Lincoln, NE, practice.

What Is All-on-4®?

All-on-4® is an innovative method of dental implants placement. During traditional implants surgery, as many as five or six posts are used to support a full-arch denture. With All-on-4® placement, however, Dr. Glenn will only need to place four implants.

Is All-on-4® Right for Me?

Good candidates for All-on-4® are those with extensive tooth loss who are seeking to experience the benefits of an implant-supported denture. When evaluating your candidacy for this treatment, you must have sufficient jawbone density to support the embedded posts. However, All-on-4® dental implants are placed at a strategic angle to maximize remaining jawbone density, so they can be more appropriate for patients who were precluded from treatment in the past because of weakened jaw strength. If your jawbone recession is too severe for All-on-4®, Dr. Glenn can often help you qualify for treatment by performing a bone grafting procedure to restore lost bone volume.

The Benefits of All-on-4®

Patients who choose to undergo an All-on-4® procedure can enjoy several benefits. These include:

  • Lifelike restorations: In contrast to removable dentures, a restoration supported by All-on-4® will never slip out of place. It will also sit directly against your gums, making it virtually identical to natural teeth.
  • Minimal discomfort: All-on-4® requires fewer implant posts than traditional implant-supported dentures. As a result, patients can enjoy less discomfort and faster healing times.
  • Immediate functionality: Unlike traditional types, All-on-4® implants can support a restoration on the same day as surgery, so you can achieve a smile with renewed strength and aesthetic appeal after a single appointment.
  • Oral health benefits: As an added benefit to your oral health, All-on-4® implants can prevent jawbone recession and changing facial contours.

We can review the full benefits of All-on-4® during a personal consultation to help determine if this treatment is right for you.

The All-on-4® Placement Process

Before undergoing treatment, Dr. Glenn will confer with your referring dentist and use cone beam computerized tomography (CT) scans to examine your jawbone and plan your procedure with expert precision. During your surgery, Dr. Glenn will place the four implant posts in your jaw at a slight angle to provide a strong foundation for your denture. Once the implants are in place, he will attach a temporary restoration. The implants will be left to heal for four to six months in order to allow the posts to fuse with the surrounding bone. Once you have healed, you will return to your dentist to have your permanent denture secured in place, instantly restoring your smile.
